Product Description Roller step shafts are multi-diameter forged bars produced by cross-wedge rolling, delivering 1–16 integral steps in a single heat. Vacuum-degassed alloy steel (4130, 42CrMo4, 34CrNiMo6) is open-die forged then rolled to Ø 80–1 200 mm, length ≤ 12 m, weight ≤ 25 t. Near-net shape keeps machining stock at 2–6 mm per step and surface Ra ≤ 6 µm. Performance Quench-temper yields 550–1 100 MPa UTS, 450–950 MPa yield, ≥ 25 J –60 °C impact; journals can be induction hardened to 55 HRC, 6 mm case depth. Straightness ≤ 1 mm/m and run-out ≤ 0.02 mm eliminate vibration and extend bearing life. 100 % UT EN 10228-3 and MT ASTM E709 guarantee defect-free critical zones. Features 360° grain flow doubles fatigue strength versus cut bar; integral flanges, keyways and centre bore remove welds and balance weights. As-forged allowance cuts machining time 30 %. Full 3.1/3.2 certification and ABS/DNV/BV approval available. Applications Work rolls and back-up rolls for plate,…
