Chemically defined as 4-[5-[bis(2-chloroethyl)amino]-1-methyl-1H-benzimidazol-2-yl]butanoic acid. Bendamustine appears as off-white crystalline powder. Its molecular formula is C₁₆H₂₁Cl₂N₃O₂ and molecular weight is 358.26. It is slightly soluble in methanol and practically insoluble in water.
