It is composed of loosely woven, 100% bleached cotton gauze impregnated with refined soft white paraffin, with the paraffin accounting for 40% to 60% of the dressing's total weight. Unlike dense medical gauze, its substrate features a loosely interwoven cotton structure that effectively prevents fraying or unraveling when healthcare professionals cut it into various shapes to accommodate irregular wound edges.
